The Protomen

I haven't been this excited about a band I've been introduced to in a while. This is for any gamer that really liked the Mega Man (Rockman in Japan) series.

The Protomen is an awesome indie rock band that I want to introduce every gamer to. The songs are about the original six Mega Man games and yes you can expect the same level of energy coming from this band as you would if you were fighting one of the bosses in the game.

Here is one of their live shows.

This band stays true to the game and yes you can totally jam out to this while playing the game. So you may be thinking, "This is cool and all, but I don't like live bands". You can check out their associated acts The Makeup and Vanity Set.

Awesome Protomen songs converted into 8bit. So check them our for at least 10 seconds, after all you are already online it couldn't hurt to click the previews wouldn't it?

98 Degrees

Has anyone been outside lately!?

It feels like a blast furnace outside. Normally I wouldn't complain about the heat, but this summer has got to be one of the hottest summers I've experienced. I chose a terrible time to start growing out my hair. Hair aside, the weather is nearly unbearable and we are in the middle of a drought here in Texas.

Summer has just started and the heat index is already climbing over 100F (37C). So mother nature unleashes it's wrath, fields are burning and fish are dying due to the rising temperatures of the water. Not even the night is protection against the heat, it is currently 11:30 pm and the temperature outside is currently 89F (31C).

As usual your best defense against the heat is to stay indoors, wear light clothing and most importantly keep your fluids up. Of course you are going to have to go outside sometime, so if you have to go into the heat be sure to know the symptoms of heat exhaustion because it can worsen and turn to heat stroke if the proper care isn't given.

If someone has heat stroke you must remember to cool the individual down ASAP. Loosen the individuals clothing, get them to shade and if possible place ice on the persons neck armpits groin and inner thigh.

As much as anyone dislikes the weather, I'd like to close this out with a boy band that was as hot as our current temperature back in the 1990's. 98 Degrees.

I feel terrible about having ended this blog in a nostalgic boy band pun.

Wal-Mart. Save Money. Live better?

I know a lot of people loathe Wal Mart and I'm not here to pick sides either, I mean sure they're everywhere and they are starting to provide many services like phone services and now Ticketmaster and it looks like they are gonna take over soon if nobody does anything about it.

Anyway aside from all that, I was clocking just yesterday when something caught my eye. There was a strange message on the screen of the TV in the hallway leading to the sales-floor.
So, I look around at this point after blatantly taking a picture and decided to ask someone about it. As usual nobody seemed to know or care what the image on the television had. Then I too stopped caring about the picture, and went about my business. Later on I noticed some of the managers trying to get the store in shape because corporate was coming; it all seemed like a coincidence. Today there was yet another picture on the same screen, this is really starting to get my attention now because these sound like very bad things.

So no I am here thinking, "What the hell?". This sounds like they are telling us that they are gonna take our money from right under my noses, still it's best not to jump to conclusions. It's best for me to see what they have up tomorrow.

Oh the summer boredom

Sometimes, I just really don't like the summer. School's out and all the annoying kids in your neighborhood run around freely just begging to get hit by a car. Then there is no comfortable place to go; you could go to a park and get burned or get a heatstroke- or you can go see a movie, but there are so many annoying kids yelling in the theater and cell phones going off.

So, how does one spend the summer?

Sometimes on days like this it's better to sit at home and get really nostalgic, not only does it help pass the time, but you usually find something to do afterwards (not only that, but bringing up an old show, song or movie usually get's people talking at parties).

So I guess this is how I am gonna try and spend my time this summer, watching some old Home Improvement episodes. AL BORLAND! NAME THAT WOOD!

The energy crisis

I finally got some sleep last night after 3 consecutive days of partying and doing full shifts at work and filling in for the those that didn't bother to show up. Yeah I was up the whole time

The last days have been so exhausting. I've been doing drugs too, music is my drug.

No, but seriously I've been using music as my medium to stay awake; not just because I enjoy music (like everyone else), but because this is the only way I can have some control over my brainwave patterns (iDosing does not work for me).

The sounds produced by One Day as a Lion have provided me with what I considered to be a legal stimulant- the entire ep is good and the songs are a decent length.

Here's a little rating on the ep:

Pros:
Great music preformed by Zack de la Rocha and Jon Theodore
Songs are a decent length, not too long nor too short
The sound is aggressive and energetic

Neutral:
It sounds a lot like Rage Against the Machine

Finally the negative, as  great as the album is the only bad thing I can pick out is that the ep is only 5 songs long.

In the end it's really music worth actually owning. It makes me wanna stay awake, it's great for giving you the confidence to finish even the most daunting of tasks that have to be done.
